Secretariat General of Defence – National Armaments Directorate
The main responsibilities of the Secretariat General of Defence concerns the implementation of directives issued by the Minister on high administrative, technical and administrative operation of the defense, promotion and coordination of technological research materials related to weapons, the supply of vehicles, equipment and weapon systems for the Armed Forces and support to the Italian defense.

Directorate General for Research Science and Technology
The Directorate General of scientific and technological research is responsible for overseeing scientific research and technology on health issues throughout universities and scientific research institutions.

The International Centre for Science and High Technology (ICS)
ICS-UNIDO operates within the legal framework of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, in Trieste, Italy and is financially supported by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The mission of ICS is established in respect to the planning and implementation of activities aimed at the transfer and application of scientific knowledge and transfer of eco-friendly technologies, in support of sustainable industrial development for the benefits of developing countries and countries in economic transition.

National Institute of Health (Istituto Superiore di Sanità)
The Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS) is the leading technical and scientific public body of the Italian National Health Service. Its activities include research, control, training and consultation in the interest of public health protection.

National Institute for Infectious Diseases
The Lazarro Spallanzani Institute was identified by the Ministry of Health as the national reference center for emerging infections and bioterrorism. Currently the Institute holds the only BSL-4 laboratory and five BSL-3 laboratories in Italy.
