Dr. Nishal Mohan, founder and creator of the Virtual Biosecurity Center (VBC) has resigned his position as the Executive Director of the VBC and also his position as a VBC Board of Advisor member. Nishal joined the Federation of American Scientists (FAS) in December of 2008 to specifically work on the VBC initiative. Since then the VBC has become a worldwide leader in biosecurity, offering the largest clearinghouse of biosecurity and biosecurity related information available, a collaborative technology environment for biosecurity professionals, fellowships, sponsorship of high impact national and international projects, conferences, networking and more to truly create an international one-stop-shop for biosecurity.
Dr. Mohan, is also the founder of the recently created Biosecurtity Program at FAS and has resigned his position at FAS.
Our gratitude goes out to Dr. Mohan for his vision and implementation of this difficult initiative that has so far seen astronomical success. It is our hope that we can all work as a community to fulfill this vision to create a unified international network and standards for preventing bioterrorism and for the responsible use of science and technology.
