NSABB Hosting a Workshop on “The Intersection of Science and Security: A Case Study Approach” – On December 9, 2011, from 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm Eastern Time, the United States Government (USG) is sponsoring and the National Science Advisory Board for Biosecurity (NSABB) is hosting a workshop entitled The Intersection of Science and Security: a Case Study Approach. This event continues the global dialogue on dual use research that the USG and NSABB have fostered, this time with a focus on Asia and the Western Pacific.
Through discussions of case studies describing research that has raised questions about its dual use potential, panelists from Asia, the Western Pacific, and the U.S. will consider the science and security issues pertinent to the cases in question, as well as the value of training and education in general. This session will be of interest to scientists and others with an interest in science policy, scientific publishing, dual use research, biosafety, biosecurity, bioethics, biodefense, and responsible conduct of research.
The event will take place in the Masur Auditorium in Building 10 (the Clinical Center) on the NIH campus.
Visit the NIH OBA Dual Use Program page to see the agenda for the event, as well as to register.
