World BioHazTec Corp. presents Fundamentals of Biocontainment Engineering. This two-day course is an overview of biocontainment engineering, providing insights into the evolution and reasoning behind guidelines and design requirements for a high containment lab. If you are contemplating or are in the process of building a new biocontainment facility or renovating existing space, or have a laboratory and want to increase sustainability, this course will provide you with insights and tools to help you avoid the pitfalls.
The course integrates theory, lessons learned and “rules of thumb” into common sense, easy to remember concepts. This is coupled with group exercises to promote networking, group problem solving and innovation. Authentic laboratory drawings and schematics are used, thereby offering practical case studies with lessons learned. Using a hands-on approach, course participants are required to form teams to resolve engineering, biosafety and safety management issues which often arise during the planning, design, construction and commissioning of laboratories. Unique to this course is that it takes a step into the future of a laboratory by addressing maintenance, sustainability, operations and validation of the facility.
