Leadership Institute
This year the American Biological Safety Association (ABSA), Elizabeth R. Griffin Research Foundation (ERGF), and Emory University will host the 5th Annual Leadership Institute for Biosafety Professionals. The theme is Inspirational Leadership: Doing More with Less as we recognize the need to provide biosafety professionals with strategies aimed at minimizing resource usage while maximizing outcomes. Focusing on “Doing More with Less” is in response to ABSA member feedback expressed at ABSA’s 54th Annual Conference member engagement initiative.
The Leadership Institute, led by Sean Kaufman, is an experience designed for biosafety professionals and other leaders who may support the biosafety profession. During this retreat, participants have the opportunity to challenge themselves and biosafety experts through interactive small group exercises and discussions. In the past, the Leadership Institute has provided many professionals with the opportunity to explore solutions for common problems. Together, the small group exercises and discussions, fosters leadership skills and abilities which are increasingly needed for today’s biosafety practitioner. The Leadership Institute will be April 22-25. You are encouraged to register early for the Leadership Institute as the maximum number of participants is very limited.
Certification Review Course
This 2-day instructor-led course provides a comprehensive overview of the essential elements of biological safety as prescribed in the NRCM Specialist Microbiologist Task List for Biological Safety Microbiology. Prerequisites for this course, as well as for preparing to take the NRCM Specialist Microbiologist (SM) Exam in Biological Safety Microbiology, include successful completion of a pre-course e-module and previous biosafety experience. The pre-course e-module is intended to highlight the NRCM and CBSP eligibility requirements as well as exam application and administration information. The instructor-led course is intended to highlight the NRCM Certification Exam domains and will help focus exam study efforts. Course attendees will have access to a listserv, monitored by the course instructors, subsequent to this course for ongoing Q&A, exchange of information and support before taking the exam. The Certification Review Course will be April 26-27 and also has a limited number of seats.
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
