The purpose of the symposia will be to promote safe science in the conduct of biomedical research involving high-risk pathogens. Each symposium will address a contemporary issue regarding the principles and practices of biosafety and biosecurity. The 2011 symposium will begin on Monday evening, April 4, with a Keynote speaker followed by a welcome reception. Tuesday, April 5, will be a day of presentations. On Wednesday morning, April 6, attendees will break into smaller groups to focus on specific issues discussed the previous day.
