New discoveries and research – often at the intersections between disciplines – are revolutionizing the field of microbiology. ASM understands that creating an outstanding professional development opportunity for scientists requires the same flexibility, innovation, and creative thinking that fuels scientific endeavors.
At asm2011, you can participate in intellectual sessions designed to inspire the connections and advancements critical to the future of microbiology. The new format enables you to take fewer days off work, but bring home more ideas, and enjoy the unique and resilient city of New Orleans while you do it.
The asm2011 covers fundamental microbial cell biology, genetics and physiology, environmental and applied microbiology and microbial ecology, pathogenesis and clinical microbiology and infectious diseases. The meeting showcases the central role of microbes in the biosphere by reporting today’s best science in the diverse areas influenced by microbes. The breadth of this meeting provides participants opportunities for immersion in fields of specialization as well as forays into different disciplines.
The asm2011 scientific program offers an opportunity for attendees to increase their knowledge of microbiology and provides:
• A forum to share new technologies, new practices and developments in clinical microbiology;
• Critical information regarding physiology, genetics and cell biology of microbes;
• Key updates in the areas of microbial pathogenesis, environmental microbiology and applied microbiology; and
• New data on the roles of microbes in health and disease, and aspects of host immunity to infectious diseases.
Scientific sessions, posters, exhibits, and registration will take place at the Ernest M. Morial Convention Center from Saturday, May 21 – Tuesday, May 24. Workshops will be held for a half-day Friday, May 20 and a full-day Saturday, May 21 at the New Orleans Marriott Canal Street.
